Originally launched on September 9th 2009, the online version of the new Monopoly City Streets game, produced by Hasbro, was such a success the servers buckled under the strain in the first few hours. The promotional news release said the free online game would be available until January 31st 2010. But in an announcement that has shocked the online gaming community the organisers have said Online Monopoly City Streets will end on December 9th 2009.

The Birth of the Online Monopoly City Streets Game

With much fanfare and publicity the online version of Monopoly City Streets, launched by Hasbro in partnership with Google Maps, was born on September 9th 2009. Within a very few hours of the launch, the computer servers were strugging to cope with the strain of thousands of eager players throughout the world keen to log on and build a property empire.
